Israel Galván (ES)

Bio:

Seville native Israel Galván grew up in the family of famous flamenco dancers José Galván and Eugenie de los Reyes. He is renowned for his sophisticated conception of dance rhythm interlaced with unexpected moments of motionlessness. After a four-year engagement in the prestigious Compañia Andaluza de Danza, in 1998 he founded his own company. His reputation as an innovator grows with each new show, whether an adaptation of Kafka's Metamorphosis, or the choreography of Arena inspired by bullfighting, or the conceptual flamenco-baroque Tabula Rasa. The controversial Galván has won many prestigious awards, including the Bessie Award, a Gold Medal from the Spanish Ministry of Culture, and the National Dance Award granted by British critics for exceptional mastery.
