Annotation:

The thrilling freestyle flamenco genius finally in Prague! One of the biggest figures in the world dance scene obsessively searches for the shape and structure of sound in choreography born from a deep perception of silence. Post-modern flamenco, cante jondo, contemporary music on the basis of rhythms and dreams.

The choreography of La Curva is inspired by "cubist" flamenco dancer Vicente Escudero, who performed in Paris in the 1920s.  It was born out of a deep perception of silence as well as from the need to penetrate into the sounds of the contemporary world. Galván is a master of motionlessness, while also able to create movements as fast as the crack of a whip. In polyphonic communication with the unique voice of Inés Bacán, a cante jondo singer, eclectic creative jazz pianist Sylvie Courvoisier and variable rhythmic pulses at the hands of José Jiménez Santiago, known as "Bobote", Galván journeys through his inner universe. The vibrating rattle of shoes warps space and hammers all of our memories of traditional flamenco deep into the ground.

Disscussion with artists after the show 22. 6. Moderated by Jana Návratová. The debate will be in Spanish and will be translated into Czech and English.

Review:

"To call Galvan a brilliant dancer is like saying Einstein was pretty good at physics. I have never seen anything remotely like him.
What propels him into the league of genius is his pinpoint precision, his absolute mastery of balance and poise. And his musicality is astonishing, the sheer kinetic energy of his movement. Absolutely breathtaking."
